I am a retired university lecturer in civil engineering who currently lives in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland with my wife, Caryl. I have two grown-up children, Jonathan and Jennifer, who both live and work in southern England.
Although Northern Irish by birth, I am now an adopted Scot who has lived here for about 30 years apart from 3-year spell in western Canada, (Vancouver, Victoria and Kimberley). During this time I worked both as a mining engineer for a private company and a geotechnical engineer with the British Columbia Government
When I returned from Canada in 1973, I accepted an academic position at the University of Paisley, as it now is. That came to an end in 1997 with early retirement, and I now enjoy a very relaxing but fulfilling life doing things that have interested me for many years but have never really had the time to pursue! These interests lie almost entirely in the field of photography and so much of the site is devoted to that.
